8th May 2025

Today, our school community came together to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a series of engaging and educational activities. The Sampford Local Historical Association played a pivotal role in helping our pupils understand what the local area was like during that historic time and how people celebrated the end of World War II.

The day was filled with music from the 1940s, games from the era, and a recreation of the joyous street parties that marked the end of the war. Children gathered around large tables to enjoy squash and biscuits, mirroring the communal celebrations of the past.

As the day drew to a close, parents joined us to listen to Winston Churchill's iconic VE Day speech, watch our parade, and sing together in a heartfelt tribute. The event concluded with a reflective prayer from Revd Rachel Dunn, allowing everyone to pause and consider the significance of the day.

It was a memorable occasion that not only honoured the past but also brought our school community closer together.
