Exmoor Challenge 2023

20th May 2023
12 children from Sampford Peverell took part in the aptly named 'Exmoor Challenge' on Saturday - and a challenge it was. It was stage a few weeks later than usual due to a combination of Ten Tors and the King's Coronation so the weather was slightly hotter than usual - making walking conditions difficult.
Our children did so well and although some had to withdraw, they still tackled the challenge with a great attitude.
Many thanks go to the parents and other adults who transported the children to Dulverton and took to the course to cheer them along. Mr Curnow and Mr Snow were so happy with the children and the support offered from other adults - including parents of ex-Sampford children!
Special mention goes to Sampford Peverell 3 - a team made up of Liam, Oscar, Maddox and Oscar - who finished the course and only picked up 6 time penalties along the 16.9 mile route - a truly huge effort! They came second place overall from all the primary school teams who took place and only finished one point (and one correct answer to the quiz) behind the winner!
Well done to to Kate, Beau and Angel who finished the course with only 37 time penalties - pretty much not dropping any time in the second half of the course!
Thank you so much again to all the children who took part and completed the training and to the adults who helped prepare them for the challenge.
Full results can be found here.

Watch out also for two children who are determined to complete the course after having to drop out due to their teammates injuries; they will be completing the course in their own time whilst raising money for the school minibus! A fantastic attitude and gesture!
